Guard of the Month: “Five Questions” with Lydia Sutton

Lydia is one of Reel Security Georgia’s most dedicated and hard working guards. Although being employed with Reel Security Georgia a little less than a year, she has already made a lasting impression on many managers and supervisors.

Atlanta Supervisor Azad Majeed, I could go on and on about her accolades but if I had to summarize her work performance, I would simply say, If you asked all the supervisors who is the best guard at Reel Security, Georgia, Lydia Sutton’s name would be part of that discussion.” Atlanta Office Manager, Kayla Aveille stated, “Lydia has always been willing to help when it comes to scheduling. She makes herself available when we really need her and she is always very polite.”

Lydia was born and raised in Florida’s “Space Coast,” in Cocoa, Florida, minutes from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. She spent her teenage years in Alabama and moved with her family to Atlanta almost four years ago. When Lydia is not on post, she spends much of her time pursuing many artistic endeavors, which include knitting, sewing and her true passion, crocheting.

Lydia’s passion for crafts was passed down from her mother. “My mom taught me everything there is to know about crafts.”

We took a moment to sit down and talk with Lydia to get her take on “Five Questions.”

1) How many locations have you worked on?

I never even thought to count how many locations I’ve been on. I much prefer to take each day as it comes, but if I were to guess it would be somewhere in the neighborhood of a hundred.

2) What’s your favorite movie or TV show that you’ve worked on?

My favorite TV show to work on is “Macgyver.” I honestly look forward to every shift I get. The crew is like one giant dysfunctional but really fun family. It’s just a really fun environment to be around.

3) What advice would you give to new guards entering the field?

There’s so much good advice that you can give to new guards, but I think my biggest thing is to not skimp out on shoes or insoles. You will be on your feet all day and if you’re in uncomfortable shoes you’ll be in pain by the end of your shift.

4) What’s your favorite part about being a guard?

I enjoy getting to see all the behind the scene things. I like seeing all the attention to detail that the crew puts into the sets, costumes, and etc. I just think it’s cool to know that when I’m standing guard on a set that there are things that I see that will never be shown on screen.

5) What would people be surprised to know about you?

I honestly think I’m a pretty open person, but some people might not know that I’m super into crafts. Right now I’m really into crochet. I also know how to knit and sew.

Thank you Lydia for your hard work and continued dedication to the Reel Security Georgia Team!

Behind The Scenes (BTS) with Rampage

Dwayne “the rock” Johnson’s Instagram posts have us super stocked for Rampage…

Regram from @therock: “Day 1. Kicking off production. #RAMPAGE. In our story we have three animals (gorilla, crocodile and a wolf) who fall victim to evil genetic editing, rapidly changing every strand of their DNA so they grow, evolve and mutate. Everything becomes amplified.. their size, strength, speed, agility.. and violent aggression. One of the animals infected – a rare Albino gorilla named, George, is my best friend. George, is played by 6’9 @tallie7487, (Jason Liles, pictured here). Jason has been studying gorillas for months now preparing for this motion capture role. Gorilla movements, body language, and all emotions – joy, pain, sadness, love, aggression etc. It’s insane when you get around this man and how he’s able to brilliantly embody a gorilla. This is the most fascinating advanced VFX/motion cap process I’ve ever worked with in my career. Incredible learning curve for me. We have the best mo-cap team in the world (WETA Digital) working on our gigantic RAMPAGE MONSTERS and you’ll get a taste of this new technology in the upcoming WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES as well as James Cameron’s AVATARS. With all the cool advanced technology in our movie, the #1 thing you’re gonna experience when you watch it, is FUN. Because when my best friend, George no happy, then me no happy. And when me no happy.. bad people become our lunch. #Day1 #KickingOffProduction #RAMPAGE🦍”

Leave it all on the set. Back when I was a punk kid my dad would take me to the gym on weekends and kick the shit outta me in the weight room and on the wrestling mats. He’d say you didn’t get up early to come here and give half ass effort. Leave it all in the gym. Years later when I played ball at The U, we applied the same principles: we left it all on the field. When I became a pro wrestler, that was part of my nightly pre match prayer. Asked for the strength to leave it all in ring – whether I was wrestling in flea markets or sold out stadiums. Leaving it all…means you give every f*cking ounce of effort you can, to give the best performance you can give. Whatever it is you do, whatever job you have.. at the end of the day, leave it all there. Rampage has been the most physically grueling role of my career. Got my ass kicked and handed back to me the whole movie. But I’m grateful to go to bed 💯 satisfied I left it all on the set. Who the fuck am I kidding, I don’t sleep, but if I did, I still left it all on the set. #LeaveItAllPhilosophy #Rampage

RAMPAGE = Best. Gift. Ever. My director @peytonology killed it with this wrap gift he presented to me on our last day of shooting #Rampage. One of the reasons I wanted to make this movie, was because of the strong personal connection I have with this game. My ALL TIME FAVORITE to play as a kid while living in Hawaii. Us hoodlums would skip school a few times a week to do two things: go watch ROCKY 3 at the theater and then go play RAMPAGE at the arcade. True story. Thank you to my creative brother @peytonology you crazy, brilliant MF. This is our third movie together and my gut tells me it might be our best one yet. And if anyone out there thinks they can take me on this game, then step on up, get a shot at the title and get your ass kicked. If you beat me, drinks on me. #BestGiftEver #ArcadeLife #Rampage 4-20-2018

When my bestie, George (an extremely rare Albino silverback) gets hangry. Hungry + angry. Blown away by this technology. Makin’ a cool movie for you guys here on set of #Rampage. When George (and a crocodile and grey wolf) are infected they grow at a rapid rate to gigantic proportions rampaging across the country. In this scene our Oscar winning Weta Digital (Lord of the Rings, Avatar etc) is using their ground breaking “performance capture” to bring “George” the Silverback to life. It uses over 30 special cameras to “see” the performance of my co-actor @tallie7487 allowing the digital artists to make the most realistic and badass animations possible. He’s wearing a “facial capture helmet” and we can record every muscle movement and expression and emotion of George as goes on a rampage. Jason studied gorillas for months preparing for this performance capture role – facial expressions, sounds, habits and emotions. Spectacular performance. What a learning curve for me and such a pleasure to help produce these amazing artists who come to set daily to be game changers. More to come. Amazing technology. #WETADigital #Hydraulx #Rampage #MyHangryBestFriend

Guard of the Month: “Five Questions” with Matilda “Mita” McGee

Mita McGee is a top employee of Reel Security California. As an L.A. based veteran guard of over 10 years with the Reel Security Corp, Mita’s positive attitude and superior work ethic continues to shine. Everyday she provides a great example for all guards and continues to do a great job representing the Reel Team on the frontlines.

Mita was nominated by Supervisor Marlene Sosebee who stated, “Mita is by far THE best guard! She has been with Reel for 10 years and Locations loves her work.” She also received high marks from Field Personnel Manager, Mark Allen who stated, “Mita’s performance in the field is the mark of a true professional and the ultimate team player! We are so lucky to have her on our team!!”

Mita attributes her effectiveness on the job to her husband of 15 years and co-worker, Sean McGee. “Everything I know of entertainment security I learned from my husband, I proudly share this honor with him.”

Mita’s stellar work ethic could also be attributed to her own family roots, while growing up in the Philippines. Mita grew up in a household with 7 siblings; her father was a lawyer and mother a housewife who worked hard everyday, raising eight children.

“I come from a very distinguished family of public servants. My great grand uncle was the 5th President of the Philippines. His name was Manuel A Roxas. He is the face of the P100 peso.”

“My grandfather, Melecio Ruiz Domingo, was a former commissioner of the Philippine’s’ Bureau of Internal Revenue and his half brother, Fred Ruiz Castro, was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.”

“I moved to the USA from the Philippines 17 years ago. I lived a very sheltered and privileged life over there. Living here allowed me the chance to find my own voice so to speak. Working security made me more outgoing, confident and strong.”

We took a moment to sit down and talk with Matilda to get her take on “Five Questions.”

 1.  What’s your favorite part about being a guard?

My favorite part of being a guard is the interactions I have with people from different walks of life.

2.  How many locations have you worked on?

Through the 10 years I’ve been with REEL, I’ve lost count!

3.  What’s your favorite movie or TV show you’ve worked on?

Hands down, that would be on House MD

4. What advice would you give to new guards entering the field?

Always report to work on time. Be presentable and observant. Don’t think you know it all because there is always room for improvement. Respect the people you work with. Take pride in the service that you do.

5.  What would people be surprised to know about you?

Security is the first and only job I’ve done! I also have a 34-year old daughter named Jennie.

Thank you Matilda for your hard work and continued dedication to the

Reel Security Team!

Guard of the Month: “Five Questions” with Nathan Hicks

Although Nathan has only been part of the Reel Team for eight months, his work ethic reflects one of a seasoned veteran. This Seattle native was nominated by several supervisors for his professionalism and effectiveness while on post.

Atlanta Supervisor Azad Majeed stated, “Nathan is always walking and patrolling. He is well liked and respected by Locations. He is always on time and never calls out. He does whatever the supervisors ask of him. He never complains. When on post, he is almost like a supervisor in a white shirt.”

Based on those type of accolades, it is apparent that Nathan would have the ability to fit into numerous roles when called upon. This skill set might have been developed from his many years as a stage actor.

Nathan has been a dedicated thespian for over 25 years, performing in numerous stage plays across the nation. His passion as a stage actor, has landed him roles in several stage productions. Most notably he has landed roles in such classics as, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” and “Of Mice and Men.” Part of what brought Nathan and his wife of eight years to Atlanta was to explore acting opportunities in Atlanta as it emerges as, “The Hollywood of The South.” There’s a good chance we may see Nathan on the big screen some time soon!

We sat down on location with Nathan to get his take on, “Five Questions.”:

1. How many location have you worked on?

“Too many to count!”

2. What’s your favorite movie or TV shows that you’ve worked on?

“Ozark, Spider-Man, Stan vs Evil, Walking Dead.”

3. What advice would you give to new guards entering the field?

“Have patience, be on time, and communication, its key!”

4. What’s your favorite part about being a guard?

“Being on locations that you would not be able to see without “Reel Security!”

5. What would people be surprised to know about you?

“I have a beautiful wife and two dogs who all put up with my schedule. I’m also a diehard Seahawks fan!”
